Due to the generosity of John Deere, the top ten teams earned cash prizes ranging from $300 to $4000.  The two teams from Penn State finishing in the top 10 earned a total of $1000 for the Turf Club. Iowa State took home the 1st place trophy.

Mark Brotherton won the 2008 Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Student Essay Contest. Mark is from Oak Ridge, N.J. and was a fourth-year undergraduate student at Penn State University when the award was granted. At this year's National Sports Turf Manager's Associations National Conference in San Jose, CA all three of Penn State's Competitive Student Teams placed in their divisions.
